Strange Tales of Growth

Crocusts are usually early bloomers. They are the first tale-tale sign of Spring.

Clue me in, here, but I thought that Spring wasn't until April. My crocusts are blooming now.

My parsley is growing. The money plants are peeking out of the ground, as are the 4 o'clocks.

And the weatherman says it's gonna get cold soon. I thought Winter was our cold season. It's been in the 60s here for the past few weeks, with only a few breaks of chilly air. Does anyone know if Phil saw his shadow? I'm thinking this winter hasn't even begun.

Everyone have their winter coats ready? February and March are gonna be cold.

Either that, or we're gonna have an influx of mosquito bites all summer long.

OH! Did I tell you? I'm going to a Beekeeping Class in Greensboro next week! With all my organic gardening this year, I thought Beekeeping would go hand-in-hand. I'm totally excited - http://www.rtpnet.org/ncsba/courses.htm has a list of all the classes offered across the state. I'm going to the one in Guilford - the one in Forsyth is on Saturday (boo hiss), but the one in Guilford has bees to give participants! By late March, I might be a certified beekeeper! How cool is that?!

I also bought my first seeds today - Luffas, Dipper Gourds, Cucuzzi, and Pumpkin Trees! WOO! Can't wait to get them and start them on their way. With this weather, I could probably have a garden producing by March. *eye roll* I'm still waiting for my organic seed catalogs to come in, and I am growing impatient.

My sister is prepping for her garden time - and her organic certification. I might have to borrow some of those books when I plant. Yeeeeees. *big evil grin*

Hey, are cucuzzi those very long necked light green squash with the light green flesh? Because I love them and I've been trying to find the seed, even though I know I'd just kill them. Because I'm a meanie when it comes to squash. I won't give up even though it means doom for them.
